How Our Gifted Program Works

At the start of the school day (morning, afternoon, or night!), your child will sign into his/her Homeroom page.  From the Homeroom, the child can view all of his/her gifted program assignments for the day in each course.  The child will typically begin with a daily online reading.  Once the reading for a given subject is completed, there will be a series of online and offline gifted program activities.  These activities include quizzes, essay questions, and projects.  

Here are some examples of what a high school student may do in a given day:
  • Read Shakespeare
  • Dissect a virtual frog
  • Chat with classmates at the Social Center
  • Discover how calculus is used in business
  • Visit a local science museum
  • Start a scrapbook
  • Learn a new song on the guitar
  • Design a family website
  • Solve a virtual crime
  • Write a short story
  • And literally hundreds of other opportunities!

In other words, learning at The National Academy for the Gifted is more than just sitting at a computer!  The online portion of your child’s coursework should only take a few hours a day.  Our gifted education program allows your child to embrace the world as textbook. 

Live Teacher Help Online

The child can contact our online school teachers when needed from 9:00 AM through 5:00 PM EST.  Let’s say your child is struggling with a particularly tricky math problem.  All the child needs to do is type out an instant message to their teacher.  Within seconds, our experienced gifted program teachers will receive your child’s message and immediately begin typing a helpful response.  Our teachers also handle all grading responsibilities.  You’ll never have to develop lesson plans or document your child’s progress throughout the year.  Our online school takes care of that.
