What We Do for You – Social Center
At The National Academy for the Gifted, we believe that our gifted school students are socialized in a healthy and positive way. A positive atmosphere is maintained, and you won’t find bullying, emotional abuse, peer pressure, negative influences, or cliques at The National Academy for the Gifted. The question we have to ask is not “How much socialization?” but “What kind of socialization?” Some parents think that just because their kids are around other kids that they are receiving proper socialization. Nothing could be further from the truth! Simply spending time with one’s peers does not provide proper, healthy socialization.
One of the ways that The National Academy for the Gifted deals with peer socialization concerns is through our Social Center. The safe, fully-monitored Social Center is an online chat room wherein your gifted school children can meet up with their gifted education classmates. The Social Center is a “closed system” meaning that only gifted school students can access it. No personal information is shared and no destructive communication is allowed. As long as conversation remains age-appropriate and constructive, our gifted school students can discuss anything, be that music, politics, their gifted education coursework, or hobbies.
In our Social Center, you’ll never have to worry about your gifted school child being bullied because of his/her giftedness. You’ll never have to be concerned that he/she is being singled out because his/her heightened gifted education abilities. At The National Academy for the Gifted Social Center, we’re all equal and accepted.
