Books and Workbooks

The National Academy for the Gifted provides parents with a wide selection of traditional books and textbooks.  At the beginning of your enrollment, we will ship you a box full of books that you’ll use throughout the year.  Our gifted education curriculum will allow your children to read a selection from a book and complete a related worksheet or activity page in one of your workbooks.

In our Language Arts and English gifted education courses, your gifted school children will read classic novels and stories.  From Aesop’s Fables to Shakespeare, the child will build his/her vocabulary while developing an appreciation for both ancient and modern cultures.  Literature provides us with a glimpse into the hearts and minds of others and helps us to build a common understanding with society.

When students read from books, they will be asked free-response essay questions.  These thought-provoking questions will challenge the perspectives of the gifted school child and exercise his/her ability to critically analyze literature.  This invaluable skill will be very useful when preparing for SAT exams and college applications.

Our gifted education workbooks allow students to solve puzzles, crosswords, word searches, fill-in-the-blanks, and more in tandem with their regular gifted education course assignments.  The brain is like a muscle.  In order to keep it healthy and strong we must exercise it.  Our workbooks provide a fun way to do just that.

You can view the books and workbooks that are included in each gifted education course by viewing our Course Catalog (link to course catalogue) pages.  These pages feature a detailed breakdown of all materials that are included in each gifted education course including CD-ROMs, books, workbooks, and other online resources.
